Is the Frisco Chorale available to sing at special functions or organizational meetings?
Yes, the choir often sings at private, business, and civic events in addition to regularly-scheduled seasonal concerts. Please refer to our Bookings Page to request a special performance.
How may I donate to the Frisco Chorale?
Our ensemble depends upon financial backing to accomplish the many goals of a civic chorus. Contributions are always welcome, and monies given are tax-deductible. Make a Donation by contacting the Frisco Chorale directly, and thank you for your support.
How often does the Frisco Chorale present public concerts?
We offer several regularly-scheduled concerts per year. These performances are open to the general public. The Chorale also sings in a variety of other events, some of which may be open to the public as well. Refer to the Concert Page for information on all Chorale performances.
What style of music does the Frisco Chorale perform?
Many styles and genres of music are explored in Chorale concerts. Spiritual, classical, vocal jazz: our choral music is defined by many styles. All Frisco Chorale music is defined by superior performance, in all musical styles.
How do I join the Frisco Chorale?
First, an audition is scheduled to determine your vocal qualities. Not all persons who audition are invited to participate. Those who are accepted then receive an invitation letter to join the Frisco Chorale.
Is the Frisco Chorale open to singers of all ages?
Generally, choir members are adult singers who have graduated from high school and who are 18 years of age and older. In special circumstances, exceptions are made for younger voices whose vocal ability and level of commitment are exceptionally strong. Contact the Frisco Chorale for further inquiries on this matter.
Are all Frisco Chorale members auditioned?
Yes, all are auditioned.
What happens in an audition?
Generally, the audition includes an opportunity for the singer to demonstrate his/her vocal qualities by singing a prepared solo. Then, a few vocalization exercises are used to determine voice part and musical strengths. Please refer to the Audition Page for further information.
At what time and place do Frisco Chorale rehearsals occur?
Chorale members rehearse every Monday night during the season from 7:00-9:00pm at the First United Methodist Church in Frisco (7659 Preston Road).
Must I read music to sing in the Frisco Chorale?
No, Frisco Chorale singers do not have to possess stellar sight-reading abilities to participate. Many principles of music theory and music reading will be discussed during rehearsals, so singers who are less proficient in music will have opportunities to “catch up” to those who are more proficient.
Are dues paid by Frisco Chorale members?
Chorale singers pay a small fee each semester to cover administrative and literature costs.
What attire is worn by singers at Frisco Chorale concerts?
Each Chorale member purchases appropriate concert attire. Once purchased, concert attire is reusable for future concerts. For women, a designated Chorale dress is worn along with black close-toed shoes and a short pearl necklace. For men, a traditional black tuxedo with black shoes and a black bow-tie is worn.
